University partnership focuses on modular IoT standards

The cooperation has already had its first successful completed joint project with the implementation of a modular software component for the UIC interface standard released by the SGET e.V. (Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies).

The UIC project had students working in groups to develop a way to exchange data between a computer and a cloud using agile software and system development methods. It was mentored by Carsten Rebmann, R&D Director at congatec., who worked with lab coach Tobias Christian Piller, to coordinate the project work, defined the requirements for the software component prototype and monitored project milestone compliance.

The IoT project, which was counted as a specialization module, developed the “UIC Communication Engine for Amazon Web Services (AWS)”. The results from the project will be incorporated into the SGET standards and made publicly available under MIT license on GitHub. The MIT license makes it possible to distribute reviews and larger projects without releasing the source code. The results are accessible to the entire community and described in detail at thelink below
