Valens docks on to ST for HDBaseT in-car connectivity
With low latency, deterministic behavior and a bandwidth of 6 Gbps, HDBaseT seems powerful enough to handle the vast amounts and safety criticality of future Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, at least according to the ideas of Israeli startup Valens who developed HDBaseT together with LG, Samsung and Sony pictures. Valens made the technology automotive-ready; past June, they introduced a first chipset. Being a fabless chipmaker, the company needs a manufacturing partner, and it seems like with STMicro it has found one.
According to a joint press release, ST will contribute its vast design and manufacturing experience as well as its experience with quality management processes to achieve the highly reliable products requested by the automotive industry. “ST will help us to speed market introduction of HDBaseT Automotive”, explained Valens CEO Dror Jerushalmi.
