LeddarTech holds a patent for a sensing technology that performs time-of-flight measurement using pulses from IR LEDs. The technology is utilised for detection and ranging systems that can identify a wide range of objects under varying environmental conditions.
Valeo plans to develop a distance measuring sensor based on LeddarTech’s technology and offer it for series-produced vehicles, crossing a new threshold in object detection technology for automotive deployment. The move will also help Valeo to strengthen its offer in active safety functions designed to meet the new EuroNCap 2016 standards.
LeddarTech said it will develop an ASIC incorporating its technology and algorithms for integration into Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. It is however unclear if the company will sell this device exclusively to Valeo. LeddarTech said it plans to roll out a range of IR LEDs for vertical markets.
