VDE opens lighting technology test center
The test center, located in Offenbach near Frankfurt, disposes of the most modern test equipment such as integrating sphere, high-resolution spectrometers, double monochromators, and others. The service spectrum of the test center reaches from measurements of luminous flux and color rendering index to the measurements of the standard spectral value and the light temperature to the assessment of photobiological safety and spatially resolved measurements of spectral distributions.
The VDE Institute which operates the test center is a competence center for LED technologies and part of the research project Performance Quality Label (PQL), driven by five research entities and 13 lighting companies. The project aims at developing standards for LED products which in turn will function as a basis for the development of a quality emblem. The quality label will facilitate market transparency; at the same time it will improve the light quality of LED products.
