VectorCAST 6.2 Embedded Software Testing provides additional integrations with a wide variety of software development tools, enabling users to work the way they want, with the tools they prefer. Reduced code coverage footprint allows users with limited memory targets to perform coverage analysis with fewer test runs, and offers unequalled user configurability of data collection mechanisms.

VectorCAST 6.2 delivers markedly faster test generation and execution. Building on a proven unit testing engine, VectorCAST 6.2 includes multi-threaded parsing and compilation, streamlined editing features, and enhanced results reporting that allow engineers to significantly accelerate their testing activities.

An incremental testing feature allows users to re-run only the subset of test cases that are impacted by a source code change, while maintaining all other test results, and code coverage data. This feature fits with the move toward continuous build, integration and testing, allowing for faster analysis of the impact of code changes, and quicker execution of regression testing.

The VectorCAST product family offers the largest number of third-party tool integrations on the market, and version 6.2 extends this lead by adding new integrations with Polarion REQUIREMENTS and IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC). The Polarion integration provides developers with bi-directional mapping of requirements and test cases, and the RTC integration provides Vector Software’s first collaboration with a defect tracking tool.

Finally, the latest version of VectorCAST enables every engineer to easily assess the impact of each source code change as those changes are made. This dependency analysis and continuous integration approach benefits teams by speeding software testing, and enabling all engineers to easily run all tests automatically. Constant automatic regression testing allows organisations to increase quality, decrease costs, and speed time-to-market — whether they are working in an Agile Test-Driven Development (TDD) environment, or traditional development process.
