VIAVI adds 800G module to field tester
VIAVI Solutions introduced the 800G transport module for the OneAdvisor 800 field tester, enhancing the industry’s most integrated and compact tool for testing up to 800G.
Driven by AI/ML and other high-bandwidth applications, service providers and manufacturers are increasingly developing and deploying high-speed fibre and transport technologies for data centre and metro/core networks. The leading OneAdvisor 800 field tester platform with the 800G transport module delivers comprehensive testing capabilities, built-in guidance, and automatic configuration that assist field technicians in installing and maintaining high-capacity networks up to 800G.
The field tester provides long battery life and industry-leading heat dissipation, making it well-suited for 800G testing in metro/core, metro/data centre interconnect (DCI), as well as campus and business services environments.

The 800G transport module supports both traditional AOC/DAC cable tests and the new AEC/ACC tests within a single unit. Transport applications can be paired with OTDR for troubleshooting fibre optic cables and OSA for DWDM analysis. Moreover, the module accommodates both QSFP and OSFP form factors, which are increasingly utilised in 800G applications compared to lower speeds. Built-in, scripted workflows ensure consistency in testing across users.
Introduced in 2020 to help simplify accelerated network installation at scale, OneAdvisor 800 offers the industry’s widest and deepest range of modular test capabilities supporting transport, wireless/RF and fibre optic environments.
