The system comprises a small industrial Box PC, sensors, software and radio modules for WLAN and 4G.

Rotating elements in machines normally generate even oscillations. Abnormalities in the oscillation pattern can give early warning of a failure. Recognising these abnormalities allows planned maintenance.

The industrial PC used in the system is an Adlink MCM-100 monitoring platform with a full-aluminium. It enables 24/7 monitoring of oscillating components with a high degree of precision and scanning rate. The fanless all-in-one computer comes equipped with the measurement technology and offers data recording, calculation and analysis. The machine performs long-term automatic recording of machine information for trend recognition.

The PC uses Intel’s x7-E3950 Atom processor. It has four 24-bit channels, each with 128 kS/s, for simultaneous measurement value recording. An optional acceleration sensor can be attached using a magnet. The device has two GbE interfaces or an optional radio module (WLAN or 4G) for data communication. An mSATA-SSD with 128 GB capacity is available for local storage. The PC also offers serial interfaces, four USB ports, two mini PCIe slots and a high resolution display port. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Core as well as Ubuntu Linux are supported.

Measuring only 183 x 110 x 84 mm, the aluminium casing is suitable for top-hat rail assembly and it can operate in temperatures from 0 to 55 °C.
