
Vishay expands 1200 V Hyperfast rectifier lineup with SlimSMA HV package

Vishay Intertechnology has added four new 1 A and 2 A 1200 V Hyperfast rectifiers to its Gen 7 FRED Pt® platform, targeting industrial and automotive markets. Also known as 1200 V fast recovery diodes, the new parts come in the compact SlimSMA HV (DO-221AC) package and promise efficiency gains, robust performance, and lower BOM costs.
For eeNews Europe readers, this means new options for designers working on high-voltage systems where space, thermal performance, and cost are all critical. The devices are especially relevant for engineers dealing with EV power electronics, industrial drives, and high-frequency power supplies.
Slim package, fast recovery
The new rectifiers include the VS-E7JX0112-M3 and VS-E7JX0212-M3, along with AEC-Q101 qualified versions VS-E7JX0112HM3 and VS-E7JX0212HM3. They combine recovery times as low as 45 ns with a typical reverse recovery charge (Qrr) of 105 nC and forward voltage drop down to 1.45 V. Junction capacitance is just 2.5 pF, helping to minimize switching losses.
The SlimSMA HV package measures 2.6 x 5.2 mm with a low 0.95 mm profile—less than half the thickness of the conventional SMA package. The design supports surge currents up to 21 A and offers 3.2 mm creepage distance plus a high comparative tracking index (CTI ≥ 600). Vishay says this reduces component count and cost while ensuring compliance with IEC 60664-1 for high-voltage applications.
Targeting EVs, drives, and power supplies
The devices are aimed at clamp, snubber, and freewheeling applications in flyback auxiliary power supplies, bootstrap drivers, and desaturation protection circuits. End uses range from on-board chargers and EV motors to industrial tools, renewable energy systems, and LED lighting converters.
With a planar structure and platinum-doped lifetime control, Vishay highlights reliability and robustness, along with operation up to +175 °C. The rectifiers are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and feature Moisture Sensitivity Level 1 per J-STD-020.
