Visteon shows Genivi-compliant addition to infotainment platform
Visteon has demonstrated its new infotainment platform at the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas – the world’s largest consumer technology trade show. Visteon’s system is compliant with requirements of the GENIVI open source software alliance, of which Visteon is a founding member. The infotainment platform design allows vehicle manufacturers the flexibility to offer customers a next-generation infotainment solution at a cost comparable to developing an embedded audio system.
“This platform builds on Visteon’s expertise in global in-car audio and entertainment to offer an innovative infotainment platform that provides connectivity for mobile consumer electronic devices and Internet connectivity for downloads of ‘apps’ and other off-board services,” said Christian Feltgen, Visteon’s global director, cockpit electronic technologies.
“As one of the first automotive suppliers to adopt open source in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), Visteon continues to develop cost-effective solutions that simplify the integration of new consumer features and services into the vehicle environment,” Feltgen added.
With strong growth foreseen in this segment, Visteon’s infotainment portfolio integrates a wide range of functions into a single scalable module, while providing a wide range of connectivity features from Bluetooth and WiFi wireless technologies to Internet connectivity, and software and feature updates. Visteon drives technology development through a global core team with strong resources in the U.S., Europe, China and India.
