The chip can be used beneficially in many applications. Examples are improving the signal quality on noisy lines, driving indicator LEDs or buzzers, or debouncing mechanical switches. It also can be used for general purpose I/O level shifting or push-pull level shifting in connection with UARTs, SPI, JTAG and similar interfaces.

The device is implemented as a 4-bit, dual-supply non-inverting fixed direction voltage translator. The fully configurable dual-rail design allows each port to operate from 1.1V to 5.5V. The inputs feature integrated static pull-down resistors to prevent the channels from floating. Power consumption is 6µA maximum over a temperature range from -40°C to 125°C. The device meets the specs of the automotive standard AEC-Q100.
