W case size for high-capacitance, high-voltage molded tantalum chip capacitors
Vishay will be releasing W case size versions of all its molded tantalum capacitors in the coming months. By using the W case capacitor, designers can reduce the component count in applications where they previously used multiple components in parallel to achieve large bulk capacitance for energy storage. This saves board space, reduces costs, and improves reliability.
The RoHS compliant low-ESR TR3 is suitable for high-volume automatic and manual pick-and-place equipment, and is capable of withstanding lead (Pb)-free soldering reflow conditions. Samples and production quantities of the low-ESR TR3 molded tantalum capacitor in the W case size will be available in Q2 2011, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
