WAE launches digital twin and BMS software for EVs and energy storage

WAE Technologies (WAE) has launched a software platform that runs on a battery management system (BMS) and a digital twin for mass market applications from the automotive, commercial vehicle and e-mobility sectors to stationary energy storage.

The Elysia Cloud Platform draws on more than a decade of high-performance battery expertise from the WiIliams racing team, although WAE is now an independent company. This is WAE’s first mass market product.

The tool offers embedded and cloud-based products for battery knowledge, management and optimisation for battery system Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to forecast and extend battery life, enhance safety, and protect warranty and residual values. This also reduces an OEM’s need to oversize or overengineer battery systems, enabling them to be lighter, cheaper and more sustainable.

The BMS platform has a suite of battery management algorithms that can allow OEMs to increase range, unlock faster charging, and maximise battery power. This can provide up to 30% increase in battery life and 10% increase in battery range, whilst significantly reducing fast charge times and increasing peak power output.

The Elysia Cloud Platform is a cloud-based system which uses proprietary digital twin technology. By providing a complete picture of the battery’s state of health, it brings much-needed transparency, while enabling accurate verification of degradation and in-life fault-finding, offering the potential to for the second-life battery market where WAE has been active.
