The round was led by Alpha Wave Ventures along with Abu Dhabi Growth Fund (ADG) and other investors including Altimeter Capital, Benchmark Capital, Coatue Management, Eclipse Ventures, Moore Strategic Ventures, and VY Capital.

The latest round of funding brings the total raised by the company since its founding in 2015, to $720 million.

The Cerebras technology is being applied to AI architectures where its monolithic nature can improve performance compared with arrays of separately packaged chips. It also supports brain-scale AI modelling.

The company’s CS-2 computer system, powered by the second-generation Wafer Scale Engine (WSE-2), is purpose-built for AI with applications in pharma and life sciences, defense and supercomputing centers.

Cerebras customers include multiple national laboratories in the US, the University of Edinburgh, Tokyo Electron Devices, GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca.
