Artificial intelligence is rapidly migrating from the cloud to the edge — and it’s changing everything. This transition is redefining how we engage with the devices around us, whether at home, in industrial environments, or throughout our daily routines. Thanks to more capable embedded processors and highly efficient foundation models, intelligence can now live directly inside devices, ranging from basic microcontrollers to sophisticated robotic systems. Join Elektor live on Thursday, December 11 at 16:00 CET for an exclusive webinar, AI at the Edge: The Future of Physical AI with Edge Impulse,” featuring Daniel Situnayake, Director of Applied Research & Edge AI at Edge Impulse.

The future of physical AI

During the webinar, Situnayake and Elektor will investigate the following topics:

  • From Cloud to Edge (A Paradigm Shift): AI processing is moving from the cloud to local devices. Advantages include lower latency, reduced power consumption, enhanced privacy, and cost efficiency.
  • The New Hardware Landscape: Even mid-range MCUs can now run machine learning tasks such as vision and keyword spotting. New silicon accelerators are making foundation models viable at the edge.
  • Intelligence Everywhere: Modern processors and software tools are democratizing AI development. Explore practical examples.
  • On-Device Generative AI: Edge devices can now create — not just interpret — text, audio, and images. Learn about real-world applications in audio enhancement, media creation, and human–machine interaction.
  • Designing for the Edge: Engineers must rethink products for on-device intelligence rather than relying on the cloud. Understand how this shift will influence product design, peer-to-peer communication, and business models.

Are you curious about edge AI and its potential? The webinar is well suited for embedded systems engineers, product managers, AI/ML practitioners, IoT innovators, and electronics enthusiasts interested in the future of intelligent devices. Discover how engineers are building smarter, more efficient systems using edge AI—where intelligence meets hardware.

About the speaker

Daniel Situnayake is Director of Applied Research & Edge AI at Edge Impulse, acquired by Qualcomm in 2025, and was the founding engineer. He’s a technologist, entrepreneur, and co-author of two popular books on embedded artificial intelligence: AI at the Edge, which provides practical insights for engineers, PMs, and engineering leaders, and TinyML, one of the standard introductory textbooks for embedded machine learning. He previously worked on TensorFlow at Google Brain, founded the company Tiny Farms, and taught at Birmingham City University.

Attendees will have a chance to win a free copy of the Edge Impulse guest-edited edition of Elektor Magazine 2025, which will hit newsstands in mid-December.
