Advanced Industrial Motor Control for Increased Power Efficiency

Electric motors account for more than 40% of total global electric power consumption. This article looks at how motor control and intelligent power modules with a range of silicon or wide bandgap switches can improve the efficiency of industrial motors and reduce the power consumption. It details the Motor Development Kit (MDK) designed by onsemi to accelerate design of motor control systems from 100 W to 100 KW. This is a comprehensive prototyping platform that enables rapid evaluation, testing, and optimization of motor control systems without any hardware design.
