Wi-Fi6E, Bluetooth 5.2 combo transceiver
It comes in two flavours; a non-MIMO device for IoT, enterprise and industrial applications and a 2 by 2 MIMO version for multimedia, consumer and automotive applications.
The combo operates in the 2.4, 5, and newly-opened up 6GHz spectrum. This makes it suitable for video and audio streaming applications such as gaming consoles, AR/VR, smart speakers, media-streaming devices and automotive infotainment. Applications that require minimal latency, such as security systems and industrial automation could also benefit.
The combination transceivers offer: double the wireless coverage range compared to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 and 40 percent more coverage than typical Wi-Fi 6/6E solutions.
Battery savings are approximately 20 percent over previous generations of transceivers and includes processing for enhanced multi-layer security.
The low-power Wake-on-Bluetooth LE mode allows the host CPU to conserve power while the Bluetooth core autonomously “listens” for incoming connection requests. Circuits have been added to improve BT/BLE range, robustness, latency and power savings beyond standard BT5.2. Infineon’s unique Smart Coex maximizes Wi-Fi throughput when used concurrently with Bluetooth, and optimizes for multi-media use cases.
Infineon is already providing the chip to Murata and the two companies have collaborated on producing the CYW5557x Wi-Fi6/6E module that is sold by Murata giving it an advantage in the market.
Similarly, Infineon has supplied LG Innotek to create an automotive/industrial Wi-Fi product family.
Swiss company u-Blox plans to extend its JODY module family using the CYW89570 and nFore Technology has deployed the chip inside its NF3327PQ Combo module.
The AIROC Wi-Fi6/6E and Bluetooth 5.2 combo is sampling to special customers but not to ordinary ones.
