Peraso is in production with WiGig® ICs, addressing both next generation WiFi opportunities in the consumer electronics (CE) space, as well as outdoor devices in the 60 GHz wireless infrastructure space.

Market research firm ABI Research estimates that by 2018, over 600 million WiGig chips will be sold annually. Product categories include access points, portable PCs, tablets, smartphones and networking adaptors.

The Peraso WiGig USB dongle reference design is based on their W110 chipset. Peraso is a vital player in the WiFi Alliance compliance efforts, and claims to be the only WiGig silicon vendor on the market with a WiGig USB.

Some of the key features of the design include a small, low cost design for elegant WiGig adaptors and independent antenna implementation for application optimization.

Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 drivers are included and complete design files are available, including schematics, BOM, and Gerbers.

The W110 chipset employs the PRS1125 and PRS4001 integrated circuits to implement the necessary IEEE 802.11ad functionality. The chipset implements a complete SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to WiGig. The PRS4001 low power WiGig baseband incorporates the analog front end, BB PHY/MAC, and two RISC CPU cores. The PRS1125 is a single chip direct conversion RF transceiver providing 60 GHz single-ended receiver and transmit antenna interfaces. The chipset is ideal for wireless storage, wireless display, and multi-gigabit mobile wireless applications.
