A report in China Times stated this week that the iWatch will come equipped with a flexible AMOLED display and 3D protective glass. In 2013 TPK signed a deal with Japanese company Nissha Printing to start producing silver nanowire touchscreen displays and this technology is thought likely to feature in Apple’s smartwatch when it is finally launched to the world.

Indium tin oxide (ITO) is currently used in flat touch panels but the brittleness of the material rules it ou for use in producing flexible displays. But ultra-thin silver nanowires can be applied to a 3D curved glass surface using a solution-based, roll-to- printing technique.

A silver nanowire matrix is transparent and conductive which makes it ideal for flexible touchsreen displays used in a watch band.

One of the world’s leading touch panel manufacturers by volume TPK has a pedigree for supplying Apple with display panels.  The Taiwanses company was one of the touchscreen suppliers for Apple’s original iPad and supplied the majority of panels for the iPhone 4S smartphone models.
