This is the first time Cyan’s solution has been deployed with this utility, a regional government body that undertakes the power distribution and retail supply business in the northern parts of the state. It services approximately 2 million domestic and over 300,000 non-domestic/light industrial customers in 11 districts under their jurisdiction.

“We are delighted that one of our key strategic partners has implemented a further pilot in India, demonstrating an additional step in the adoption of CyLec as a standard for smart electricity metering across India,” said John Cronin, Executive Chairman of Cyan. "Cyan is building momentum in India with several pilot nstallations demonstrating our CyLec smart electricity metering technology."

The company is currently involved in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) Automatic Meter Reading tender, as well as in a smart grid project being led by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), in Puducherry. Cyan is also involved in an AMI pilot project for a leading integrated power company in Mumbai.  The pilot with a large public utility in the north of India is the most recent of Cyan’s smart metering involvements in the country.

The company has developed wireless mesh networking hardware and software technology for smart meters and lighting based around the XAP16 microcontroller core developed by Cambridge Consultants. CyLec is Cyan’s smart metering solution for energy utilities. It provides a robust, scalable and integrated platform that enables utilities to transform existing power grid infrastructure into the smart grid. CyLux is Cyan’s energy efficient smart lighting solution. It enables significant power savings by optimising the way in which public lighting is managed.
