The module can be connected to a host controller by means of SDIO interface. In addition to a Bluetooth interface, a UART interface is available for Bluetooth operation. A two-wire serial interface (TWSI) is included on the module for near field communication (NFC). Audio applications are supported by integrated PCM and I2S functions.

Through the 1×1 antenna configuration, PHY data transfer rates up to 433 Mbps and transfer rates up to 3 Mbps via Bluetooth are feasible. You can add 64-bit or 128-bit AES hardware encryption and integrated security mechanisms such as 64/128-bit WEP, WPA, WPA2 and WAPI to provide a high level of data security.

Wireless output power is up to +18 dBm in 802.11b mode and +15 dBm in 802.11a/g/n mode or up to +8 dBm with Bluetooth operation. Coexistence functions are supported by an internal TDM unit for WLAN and Bluetooth as well as a 2-wire UART for LTE.

A Linux driver is offered for software support. Other platforms will follow afterwards. In addition to WLAN station mode with infrastructure and ad-hoc mode, a WLAN µAccess Point with up to 10 clients and Bluetooth is contained in the firmware. The new data transmission standard WiFi Direct is also supported.

The WiBear11ac automotive-grade wireless module is radio type approved for Europe (CE), the United States (FCC) and Industry Canada (IC), and meets automotive qualification tests (climatic, mechanical, and operating life tests) according to VW 80000 / ISO 16750-4. The operating temperature range of the module is from -40°C to +85°C. The device will be shown at stand 130 in Hall 2 at embedded world 2014, February 25-27, in Nuremberg,
