pureLiFi in Scotland is launching a collaboration for wireless power to provide high bandwidth fixed wireless access (FWA) for indoor connectivity using light.

The LINXC Bridge is a collaborative project between pureLiFi and wireless power system developer Solace Power in Newfoundland, Canada, for LiFi data in the home.

The system aims to provide robust connectivity indoors, particularly for 5G mmWave signals, with reduced costs. The window-mounted system is self-installable, eliminating the need for costly professional installation and shortens the roll out process for network operators and dramatically improving indoor connectivity for enterprise and the home.

The Bridge provides data rates up to 1Gbit/s, with more on the roadmap with wireless power to supply up to 100W of continuous power to outdoor CPE through the glass.

The Bridge inside the house is p,lugged in and secured to the window. This provides power and a bidirectional LiFi link to the fixed wireless access modem on the outside. This is currently for 6GHz, but could also use mmWave. Another version has a separate power output for other modems such as a satellite link. Both can be easily installed on the window without the need for close alignment.

The bridge can be coupled with the SkyLite LiFi concept for a whole-room access point. This covers over 50 sqm (540 sq feet) of space, providing high speed, low latency and highly secure wireless connectivity accessible to all. Similarly the LiFi Cube is a plug-and-play access point designed for simple, secure working from home, gaming, streaming and on-the-move connectivity, offering unparalleled speed and privacy.

“Mobile World Congress is about pushing boundaries and shaping the future of connectivity,” said Alistair Banham, pureLiFi CEO. “We are excited to bring products solving both todays and tomorrow’s connectivity challenges. LiFi is now ready to augment and extend other wireless technologies ushering in a new era of bandwidth, speed and reliable communications.”

pureLiFi’s full network access product range is IEEE 802.11bb compliant following the ratification of the new global LiFi standard in 2023.
