Wireless power startup raises funds ahead of chip release
The money is earmarked for additional engineers and business development ahead of the release of Nikola’s ‘Indra’ wireless power receiving chip.
Indra is being developed with Skyworks Solutions and Texas Instruments and is due to be ready for production later in 2017. In addition, Nikola Labs announced the appointment of Jim Dvorsky s director of product development, and Tad Dritz as vice president of business development.
Nikola Labs is commercializing an energy harvesting and wireless power technology developed by Dr. Chi-Chih Chen, a professor at Ohio State University’s ElectroScience Laboratory. The technology is applicable to the provision of reliable power to Internet of Things (IoT) devices allowing them to operate perpetually and completely free of wired connections.
