Opportunities include consumer electronics, Internet of Things, mobile computing, automotive, medical, and industrial applications. The use of magnetic resonance technology brings advantages over other wireless charging methods including the ability to charge metal-bodied smartphones, tablets and smartwatches.
ST and WiTricity plan to produce a variety of wireless power transfer chipsets including sets that comply with the AirFuel magnetic resonance specification and multi-mode solutions that incorporate both resonant and inductive charging.
