George Schmitt, CEO and Board Chairman of xG Technology, said, “xG’s core wireless technology is unique in that its layered cognitive radio approach provides a level of resilience that enhances RF performance in both congested spectrum as well as contested spectrum. This extends resistance to interference to levels heretofore unachievable. Our technology incorporates advanced signal processing methodologies, including Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA), intelligent and active interference mitigation, and advanced employment of MIMO antennas as outlined in this patent. As a whole, these capabilities deliver significant operational benefits in a number of market sectors. This is particularly true for those that must deal with challenging operating environments and limited spectrum resources, such as the military services, public safety and emergency management.”

MIMO techniques, such as those outlined in this latest xG patent, allow for sending and receiving more than one data signal with the same radio channel simultaneously. In addition to being able to track and cancel interference from multiple sources, xG MIMO processing allows more efficient use of the radio channel. This can lead to improvements such as higher data rates, increased system capacity and enhanced reliability of communications links.

Unlike traditional cellular systems, the xMax broadband wireless system from xG was engineered on an expeditionary-design basis to provide highly mobile, scalable, anywhere, anytime connectivity, regardless of spectral conditions or adverse events that negatively impact communications. xMax is a patented all-IP software-defined cognitive radio network that delivers mission-assured wireless connectivity in any RF environment.
