Xilinx FPGAs provide programmable acceleration in Amazon’s cloud

While Amazon Web Service provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud, “F1 instances” enable deployment of hardware acceleration for critical workloads, using FPGAs. Because FPGAs are programmable, users have the flexibility to update and optimize their hardware acceleration without having to redesign any hardware, shortening the time to evaluate and innovate.

F1 instances will be used to solve complex science, engineering, and business problems that require high bandwidth, enhanced networking, and very high compute capabilities. They are particularly appropriate to applications that are time sensitive such as clinical genomics, financial analytics, video processing, big data, security, and machine learning.
