XP buys Comdel to expand RF power supplies
The $23m deal sees Comdel of Gloucester, Massachusetts, become the RF Power Division of XP Power. Comdel’s CEO, Scott Johnson, will remain with the business to head up the new division, XP-Comdel. “We will continue to provide the same high standards of customer and engineering service as before. The acquisition will allow us to leverage the technical and financial resources of a global leader in power conversion,” he said.
Comdel, which started in 1966, shares several customers with XP, particularly in the semiconductor equipment sector. XP Power will now be able to help these customers streamline their supply chains by delivering more of their requirements from one source.
The deal also brings new customers to XP, particularly in photovoltaic and induction heating industries. The Comdel products will be available through X’s 27 sales offices throughout Europe, North America and Asia.
“We are delighted to welcome Comdel to the XP Power Group and are excited about the opportunity of offering its complementary product range through our global sales channel,” said Duncan Penny, Chief Executive of XP Power (above). “The acquisition will enable us to provide our existing customers with a comprehensive product offering in RF power, a market segment with robust demand fundamentals but one in which we did not previously specialise.”
