Zephr is developing software that makes GPS for mobile devices more accurate and consistent

Your mobile GPS accuracy depends in many ways on the bouncing of the signal against buildings and the line of sight with the satellite. The Zephr people came up with the idea to turn every mobile phone into a base station and from that data generate an ensemble error correction. Where you existing mobile will have 3-5 meters accuracy, this new approach will bring the accuracy up to less then 1 meter.

From the website:

Zephr’s networked GPS solution enhances accuracy by 5X-10X (<1m) for mobile devices and wearables. This patent-pending technology delivers unprecedented location accuracy, reliability and error correction by interconnecting satellite measurements across multiple devices – and all while ensuring strong user privacy.

Zephr’s enhanced GPS is a standalone SDK product that will allow any mobile app to easily upgrade GPS accuracy by embedding the feature.

Next-generation GPS creates new potential for AR, gaming, mobility, logistics, safety, sports, mapping and more.
