The Zhaga Interface Specification Book 8 defines an LED light engine with integrated electronic control gear (ECG) and a round drum shape. The light engine is likely to be used primarily in down-lighting applications. The certifications were issued to BJB GmbH for LED holder products.

Book 7 defines the interfaces of rectangular and linear LED light engines with separate control gear. These are used in luminaires for indoor lighting applications, for example office lighting. One indoor luminaire may contain several Book-7 modules combined with one ECG.

Several Book 7 variants are possible that have different overall dimensions, as follows: L6W6 (length 60 mm x width 60 mm), L28W2, L28W4, L28W6 and L56W4.

Book 4 specifies high-intensity LED modules, which are mainly used in street lighting and high-bay applications. The modules have separate ECGs and a choice of size for the rectangular light-emitting surface, namely 30 x 7.5 mm, 42 x 10.5 mm, and 60 x 15 mm. Philips Lighting has achieved Zhaga certification according to Book 7 for a range of Fortimo LED Line modules (see news item), as well as several Fortimo LED HBMt modules that are compliant with Book 4.

Certification allows products to carry the Zhaga logo and ensures that all the requirements of the particular Zhaga interface specification have been met. Zhaga certified products are listed on the Zhaga website at: www.zhagastandard.org/products/certified-products.html.
