Automotive-compliant film capacitors for use in rough environments

Passive component manufacturer Kemet introduces a new series of metallized polypropylene film capacitors for automotive electronics. The F863 Class X2 miniature capacitors provide reliable safety applications in harsh environments and under harsh environmental conditions.

The new capacitors are suitable for applications in the automotive and industrial sectors. They offer end-to-end EMI and RFI filtering for the increasing number of automotive applications and for on-grid indoor applications such as capacitive power supplies.

The F863 series meets the qualification requirements of AEC-Q200 and is available with capacitance values from 0.1 to 10 F with nominal voltages up to 310 VAC. The fully approved RFI-X2 capacitors offer an operating temperature range of -40 to +110 °C.

The metallized polypropylene film dielectric has excellent self-healing properties. In addition, Kemet's developers have further improved the main components of this series of capacitors to reduce the traditional capacitance loss mechanisms. The F863 series therefore offers a very stable capacity and at the same time meets the international safety requirements of ENEC, CUL and CQC.
