The Application Board 3.0 provides engineers with a versatile tool to work quickly and easily with all Bosch Sensortec sensors in a centralised environment.

The Application Board 3.0 is designed to simplify the evaluation and prototyping of sensors for a variety of applications, particularly in the areas of Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Home and Wearables.

The scalability of a sensor from Bosch Sensortec can also be easily expanded with the new platform. To do this, the sensor is mounted on a "shuttle board" and plugged into the socket on the application board. The Bosch Sensortec software automatically recognises which sensor is plugged into the tool and starts the appropriate program. In this way, numerous sensors and solutions can be evaluated in a time-saving manner. Prototyping is also easier: product developers can use the new board to quickly test different configurations for their applications.

With its compact dimensions, the Application Board 3.0 from Bosch Sensortec is suitable for evaluating sensors in portable applications. It is powered by a 3.7 V lithium-ion battery or a standard 5 V USB power supply.

The associated integrated development environment (IDE) offers a simplified graphical user interface (GUI). This allows sensor parameters to be evaluated and tuned, and sensor data to be recorded and visually displayed. In the event of sensor-related problems, the software also helps to find errors quickly.

The Application Board 3.0 was developed with the u-blox NINA-B302 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module and is based on the nRF52840 chipset from Nordic Semiconductor, which contains an ARM Cortex-M4F CPU. The platform is certified and approved according to various standards for several international regions: CE, RoHS, China RoHS, FCC, IC, VCCI, SRRC and NCC.
