Custom pulsed laser source for LiDAR

To be demonstrated at Laser World of Photonics, the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH) has developed a stand-alone, PC-controlled pulsed laser source for LiDAR research, allowing the flexible adjustment of pulse duration and intensity.

The laser source’s parameters can be changed using a tablet, with the results immediately available on screen. With the PLS flex, FBH offers laser sources that deliver pulses in the range from 200 ps to 20 ns. The systems can be equipped with diode lasers of various wavelengths (630 - 1180 nm) and power ranges. Laser diodes, which are wavelength stabilized at 905 nm, achieve output powers of up to 100 W at ambient temperatures of up to 85 °C. This makes them well suited for use in LiDAR systems. FBH offers the chips in a complete development environment with driver electronics and control software.
