Intel backs Chinese AI startup
Zhuhai Eeasy Technology Co. Ltd. (Zhuhai, China), a company focused on artificial intelligence machine vision algorithms and SoC designs, has raised an undisclosed amount of equity capital from Intel Capital, Northern Light Venture Capital and Delta Capital.

Eeasy was founded in Zhuhai in July 2016 and has more than 100 employees including a core team with SoC chip mass production experience. It has additional offices in Beijing and Shenzhen.

The money raised will be used to expand Eeasy's IP base for superior SoCs to address consumer, smart-home and automotive electronics applications, the company said. The company claims that by applying application-based design ideas it has achieved industry leading performance-power-area product indices for its cores.

The company launched its first test chip in 2017 and recently completed the full-mask tape-out of its edge AI processor, with mass production planned for 2Q19.

"By optimizing the use of Intel Architecture and Intel's leading processing technology in the global semiconductor industry, we will develop broader AI application scenarios that help drive innovation within the sector," said Feng Chen, founder of Eeasy Tech, in a statement issued by the company.

Feng Chen was one of the founding engineers at two of China's early fabless chip companies of Actions Semiconductor Co. Ltd. and Allwinner Technology Co. Ltd.
