Johnson Controls Power Solutions has re-branded as Clarios after its sale to private equity firm Brookfield Business Partners.

Clarios has $8bn in revenues with more than 16,000 employees and 56 facilities worldwide and with produces a third of all the global automotive industry's total yearly output of battery technology. Alongside lead acid batteries, it produces absorbent glass mat batteries and low voltage lithium ion cells and packs for both the automotive and energy storage markets.

"At Clarios our vision is to power progress by creating the world's smartest energy storage solutions that benefit people, business, and the planet," said Joe Walicki, president of Clarios. "As a global leader with a product used in virtually every vehicle from conventional to fully electric, we are well positioned to capitalize on market trends, including a move toward more electrified and autonomous vehicles which are elevating the critical role of the battery and accelerating the need for more advanced batteries. Under Brookfield's ownership, we can better capitalize on these growing trends and operate with more focus and efficiency."

Battery technology has become increasingly important with over a hundred electrified devices in today's vehicles. With the growing shift toward more autonomous vehicles, advanced safety features will become even more critical, requiring a proven, reliable energy storage solution.

It will maintain its current global manufacturing and operations footprint, including its corporate headquarters in Glendale, Wisconsin. The European base is in Hannover, Germany.
