NeuReality eyes datacenter AI with $8 million seed funding
NeuReality Ltd. (Caesarea, Israel), a startup focused on scalable AI for the data center, has raised $8 million in seed funding.

The company has also appointed Naveen Rao, a former general manager of Intel AI products group, to its board of directors. Rao was the founder and CEO of Nervana, an AI company acquired by Intel in 2016 for around $400 million.

NeuReality was founded in 2019 by a team with experience in data centers architecture, system, and software. Its seed funding has been provided by Cardumen Capital, OurCrowd and Varana Capital. NeuReality said it will introduce its first AI platform early in 2021 and the company has what it calls an AI server on a chip.

Despite large investments in data centers such companies as Facebook, Microsoft and Amazon – so called hyperscalers – are facing scalabilty challenges for their recommendation systems, digital assistants. NeuReality claims its approach to real-world datacenter usage reduces the dependency on CPUs, NICs and PCI-switches and moves simple but critical data path functions from software to hardware.

"Our mission is to deliver AI users best in class system performance while significantly reducing cost and power,” said Moshe Tanach, co-founder and CEO of NeuReality, in a statement.

Prior to founding NeuReality, Tanach served as director of engineering at Marvell and Intel, and vice president of R&D at DesignArt-Networks.

Tzvika Shmueli, vice president of operations, was previously vice president of engineering at Habana Labs. Yossi Kasus, vice president of VSLI, served as senior director of engineering t Mellanox and head of VLSI at EZchip.
