Programmable hardware and software platform with scalable AI
Xilinx has launched a scalable, adaptive compute acceleration platform (ACAP) that combines scalar processing engines, adaptable hardware engines and intelligent engines with the latest memory and interfacing technologies.

Versal ACAP provides both hardware and software which can be programmed and optimized easily through tools, software, libraries, IP, middleware, and frameworks. The platform is built on TSMC’s 7-nanometer FinFET process technology. The Versal portfolio offers a combination of software programmability with hardware acceleration and adaptability that is required to keep up with today’s fast-paced changing market. There are six series of devices included in the Versal portfolio, which have been crafted to deliver scalability and AI inference capabilities for many different applications.

The Versal Prime series, Premium series and HBM series produce the highest performance, connectivity, bandwidth, and integration for demanding applications, while the AI Core series, AI Edge series and AI RF series include the AI Engine. The AI Engine is a newly available hardware block that is intended to provide low-latency AI inference and support advanced DSP implementations. AI Engine is tightly integrated with the Versal Adaptable Hardware Engines to provide whole application acceleration. This innovation allows both hardware and software to be tuned for the highest level of performance and efficiency.
