RISC-V demand helps UltraSoC expand in Bristol
Embedded analytic semiconductor IP licensor UltraSoC Technologies Ltd. (Cambridge, England) has opened an engineering office in Bristol to help it address increasing demand for its IP in multiple markets.

UltraSoC has recently announced that it will provide debug and trace technology for the SiFive Freedom platform, based on the RISC-V open source processor specification as part of the DesignShare initiative. UltraSoC’s embedded analytics IP will be available through the recently announced SiFive DesignShare ecosystem.

Baines added that the engineering base and demand around RISC-V is accelerating quickly.

Baines said that UltraSoC is now in double figures for licensees of its IP. Customers include HiSilicon (Huawei), Imagination Technologies, Movidius (now Intel), and Microsemi and UltraSoC partners with ARM, Baysand, Cadence, CEVA, Codasip, Imagination, Lauterbach, SiFive, Sondrel and Teledyne LeCroy, amongst others.
