SEMICON Europa to focus MedTech innovation

This year SEMICON Europa (12-15th November 2019, Munich) will have a strong focus on state-of-the-art medical technologies (MedTech), offering the SMART MedTech Forum as Europe’s first event to foster collaboration in semiconductor value chains and medical technologies.

The SMART MedTech Forum will be showcased at the Inspiration Hub (Hall B2), an experimental pavilion where attendees will discover companies that are driving innovations in the medical technology sector.

Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies from Johnson & Johnson will kick off the forum with a presentation on the challenges and opportunities in the healthcare world, followed by MedTech Europe, which will discuss trends in the areas of healthcare and digital medical technologies. imec and GE Research will focus on bridging the gap between semiconductors and medical technologies to address global health challenges.

Digitalization of preventive health care
The focus of a growing number of Smart MedTech device manufacturers on medicine
prevention paves the way for a presentation of OnePlanet Connected Health Solutions on
Digital health opportunities for mental stress monitoring using portable data and machine learning. Maxim Integrated will explore the potential of sleep monitoring to prevent health problems and reduce healthcare costs, as well as how portable devices can help prevent hypertension. ams AG will examine how sensors can enable consumer health applications for preventive health care.

Revolutionizing health care with personalized medicine
Personalized medicine is increasingly focused on increasing the efficiency and quality of care through personalized patient management. Yole Developpement and Fraunhofer EMFT will introduce innovative solutions in precision medicine and drug delivery for personalized healthcare, while X-FAB will discuss how MEMS manufacturing enables breakthroughs in personalized medicine.
