The GUI CAR software tool addresses a well-known problem: How can a general SEooC (Safety Element out of Context) analysis report be adapted to the final specific use case, and how can multiple safety objectives be supported for a safety relevant component?
GUI CAR combines the most important aspects of safety analysis by enabling a multi-level view of a safety-relevant component in conjunction with adaptable analysis parameters and all results required by ISO 26262, such as Single Point Fault Metric (SPFM) and Latent Fault Metric (LFM). The software also provides the user with estimates for both the probabilistic metric for random hardware failures (PMHF) and for assessing the cause of the safety goal violation. These results can be displayed from the entire component to each individual element across different hierarchy levels, with error rates assigned to the appropriate error classes (single point, residual, latent, etc.). This makes it easy and effective to review complex SoC/MCU safety analyses (system on chip/microcontroller).
The libraries provided for a specific product can be adapted to different applications and precisely adapted to the use of the component in the target system. A graphical user interface provides insight into the product and enables the retrieval and configuration of safety-relevant information. Error rates, error characterization, error modes, error effects and error coverage are just some of the parameters that can be set by the user.
