TSMC sales down, again
In August TSMC’s sales were NT$91,917 million (about $3.06 billion), down 2.5 percent on the same month in 2016. This was smaller fall than in July when TSMC reported sales of NT$71,611 million (about $2.38 billion), down 6.3 percent on July 2016. No reason was given for the annual fall in monthly sales.
Despite these falls, and others during the year, TSMC is still showing a year-to-date increase in sales. For the first eight months of 2017 sales revenue is NT$611.30 billion (about $20.3 billion), up 2.6 percent on the same period in 2016.
UMC’s revenues for July and August were NT$12,788 million (about $425 million) and NT$ 13,045 million (about $434 million), respectively. These are annual increases of 2.3 and 0.9 percent for July and August respectively.
UMC’s year-to-date sales figure is NT$ 100.79 billion (about $3.35 billion), up 4.1 percent on the first eight months of 2016.
