WiTricity, an industry pioneer in contactless resonance-based power transmission, licenses German tier one supplier Mahle to use its patented technology for contactless charging of electric vehicles. With the acquisition of the license, Mahle invests in a comprehensive portfolio in the field of electromobility and, as a supplier of engine components and heat management systems, can now develop innovative solutions for electromobility. The current offering for electrified vehicles includes electric motors, power electronics and controls.

The expansion of the product portfolio is an important building block for the long-term acceptance and expansion of e-mobility, believes Mahle CEO Jörg Stratmann. WiTricity brings semiconductors, a patent portfolio and and a range of reference designs into the partnership. “We believe that the technology has great market potential”, Stratmann commented.

Mahle is an international development partner and one of the top 20 suppliers to the automotive industry worldwide. The product portfolio is focused on all important areas of drive and air-conditioning technology ̶ both for drives with combustion engines and electrical solutions.
