Rigol Technologies has integrated the two of its self-developed Centaurus ASIC chips into a new 12bit digital oscilloscope.

The DHO1000 series has a sampling rate of 2 GSa/s and is offered as a 2-channel as well as a 4-channel solution in bandwidths of 70, 100 and 200 MHz. The maximum memory depth is 100 Mpts. The minimum vertical adjustment is 500 µV/DIV for the DHO1000 series, so that even small signals can be measured.

The two ASICs achieve a very low noise level of 50 µVrms with a combination of high sampling rate, deep memory and very high measurement speed. Even the smallest amplitude deviations can be measured thanks to the vertical resolution of 12 bits. A high-resolution mode of up to 16 bits can also be activated. This means that very high resolutions in both the horizontal and vertical areas are combined with a very deep memory, thus expanding the variety of analysis.

Typical applications include analysis such as switching performance measurements in the power domain, automated tests in factories, protocol analysis for serial buses in vehicle electronics, electronic circuit measurements, applications in development and many more.

The ASICs enable a new Ultra Acquire Mode with a very fast trigger rate of 1,500 million wfms/sec. With this, very fast or sporadic and short events can be easily measured and displayed in different ways such as waterfall, mosaic or superimposed displays in order to be able to show undesired signal components optimally. Ultra Acquire can also be linked to the recording, analysis and navigation functions in order to take a look at the signal components for detailed analysis.

Various trigger, math and display options (extended FFT of 1 million points, mask test and power analysis), an integrated signal search function is available as well as all the usual serial bus protocol analysis and trigger functions. The integrated voltmeter and a frequency counter round off the complete range of measurements. Various interfaces such as USB host, USB device, HDMI, LAN (10/100/1000 Base-T) and AUX OUT are also available.

The ‘scopes have a 10.1 inch HD colour touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 x 800 with 256 intensity levels and colour tones for precise and clear signal display. The device can be connected to an external touch monitor via HDMI and USB and can be operated from there. A web control display and FTP server connection allows the oscilloscope to be operated remotely without having to install an additional driver for teaching and for use at universities

The hardware is equipped with photoelectric encoders for easy operation, which have very low abrasion and therefore a very long service life.

A range of active and passive probes, high-voltage probes (differential/single-ended), different current clamps (up to 500 amps), 19-inch installation frame and software drivers for known packages is also available.

As a special feature, Rigol offers extensions for higher bandwidths or memory expansion via software upgrade. Serial triggering and decoding (SPI, I2C, RS232/UART, CAN and LIN) are included in the device as standard.
