D-Link expands 2.5G multi-gigabit switch lineup for edge networks
D-Link has introduced a new range of 2.5G multi-gigabit switches aimed at meeting the growing demand for high-speed, flexible connectivity in both enterprise and home environments. According to D-Link, the portfolio includes the DMS-1250 Series of smart managed switches and three new unmanaged models, offering Power over Ethernet (PoE) options and advanced security features.

Robust 6kV surge protection across all 2.5G ports strengthens durability for mission-critical environments.
PoE support, including IEEE 802.3af/at/bt standards, allows network operators to power devices such as Wi-Fi access points, VoIP phones, and IP cameras directly via Ethernet cabling. Select models deliver up to 60W per port, eliminating the need for separate power lines and simplifying deployment in high-density environments.
In addition, the switches are compatible with D-Link’s Nuclias Connect centralized management platform, enabling configuration, monitoring, and deployment at scale. This makes the DMS-1250 Series suitable for various applications, from small offices to enterprise edge rollouts.
Enhanced features and security
D-Link has also integrated advanced Layer 2 capabilities into the DMS-1250 Series to enhance network stability and performance. Support for 802.3ad Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) boosts bandwidth and provides redundancy, while static routing ensures efficient traffic management across complex topologies. Loopback detection prevents broadcast storms, contributing to consistent uptime.
Security is reinforced with AAA support for RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication. The company’s Safeguard Engine provides real-time protection against malicious traffic and overload conditions. For administrators, these features translate into greater control and reliability in managing multi-gigabit edge networks.
Unmanaged 2.5G models
Complementing the managed switch family, D-Link has introduced three unmanaged models: the DMS-108P, DMS-1016, and DMS-1024. These switches provide simple, high-speed connectivity with 2.5G ports, making them well-suited for small offices, gaming setups, and home networks requiring bandwidth beyond standard gigabit Ethernet.
