DigiLens teams with Omnivision on AR/VR/MR/XR
DigiLens Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.), provider of plastic waveguides for smartglasses, has announced a partnership with CMOS image sensor maker Omnivision.
The two companies will work together to make AR/VR/MR/XR products, DigiLens said. Omnivision is the world’s third largest supplier of CMOS image sensors behind Sony and Samsung.
Omnivision makes liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) panels that allow DigiLens to make LCOS/LED projectors that are optimized for its holographic waveguides. DigiLens has developed a 30-degree landscape field-of-view, LCOS-LED, high-definition display light engine, called EnLiten30. This provides more than 2,500 nits of brightness to the wearer’s eye from a distance of 28mm and at a transparency of 85 percent. Omnivision’s global shutter fisheye camera components are used in DigiLens’ smartglasses for spatial positioning.
