Kulr cuts staff as it pivots to test
Battery material developer Kulr has reduced its total workforce by approximately 15% as it shifts its business towards test systems.
The changes come as Kulr focusses on its aerospace and defense contracts while improving the profitability of its commercial customer engagements, said the company. It aims to achieve operational breakeven by the second quarter of 2024.
- Kulr licenses battery safety and test technology
- Automated battery test of 10000 cells for space missions
- Battery safety test deal with leading Asian car maker
The company had developed thermal management materials to protect battery cells and prevent thermal runaway in lithium ion battery packs in space and high end automotive designs.
Kulr streamlined operations at its headquarters in San Diego, California while continuing to focus on its Kulr ONE Design Solutions testing platform and scaling R&D initiatives at its existing facility in Webster, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
“As we pivot the Company to focus on the KULR ONE services and platforms, we can gain operational efficiency by consolidating our battery related activities in the Webster, Texas facility. This action is critical for Kulr’s goal of being operational income positive exiting Q2 2024. Our San Diego facility will remain focused on automated testing and historical thermal management products,” said Keith Cochran, President and COO of Kulr.
