SandGrain BV (Eindhoven, The Netherlands), a startup company that specializes in hardware security has raised €1.3 million in a seed investment round from Dutch venture capital fund DeeptechXL.

SandGrain was founded in 2019 as successor to UniqIC (see UniqIC formed to bring secure ICs and support to market). The company is looking to address the industrial internet of things (IIoT). The company provides a combination of unique hard-coding of ICs and a centralised cloud platform that guarantees and manages the IoT node identities.

DeepTechXL launched a €75 million DeepTechXL Fund I in 2022 with partners ASML, Philips, the research institute TNO, and several family offices.

SandGrain says it will use the funds to accelerate its growth and product development.
