Mobile World Congress (MWC) saw the telecoms industry come together in Barcelona this week with the latest technologies. New ways to drive down the cost of Open RAN with new DSP cores and chips and the emerging 6G technologies were both clearly in evidence, alongside new 5G private radio systems and chips for satellite connectivity enabled by the latest 3GPP specification. The news that HMD Global is also planning to bring 5G smartphone manufacturing to Europe was also welcome.
