SiPearl opens design centre in Grenoble, looks for 50 engineers
SiPearl has opened a design centre in Grenoble with the goal of recruiting 50 engineers on the site by the end of 2022.
The company is designing the core chips for the European Supercomputer project and centre will focus on semiconductor design and high performance computing (HPC) with digital design, verification, layout, DFT, process and production.
The design centre in Grenoble follows centres at Maisons-Laffitte, Duisburg, Barcelona and Sophia Antipolis and the company is aiming to recruit 1000 engineers by 2025.
Last week RISC-V processor designer Codasip announced plans to hire 100 designers for sites in Bristol and Cambridge, UK.

“It was obvious that SiPearl should open a centre in Grenoble, the heart of European Silicon Valley,” said Philippe Notton, SiPearl’s CEO and founder. “It locates us close to several of our partners in the European Processor Initiative consortium and, more importantly, accelerates our recruitment strategy by allowing us to seek out the experts in semiconductor technologies and high-performance computing where they are located. By joining us, they will take on the most exciting challenge in European electronics: designing the microprocessor that will contribute to Europe’s sovereignty and technological independence.”
The company is designing a new generation of multicore processors for HPC, artificial intelligence and connected mobility, working with 27 partners from the scientific community and supercomputing centres as well as leading names from the IT, electronics and automotive industries.
SiPearl is also a member of the Mont-Blanc 2020 consortium to equip Europe with a dedicated modular and energy-efficient high performance computing microprocessor, and is a member of the PlayFrance.Digital collective for Europe to lead the field for digital technology.
