Compact common mode chokes target CAN FD
Automotive data networks are divided into four systems according to their domains: Body, Safety, Powertrain, and Multimedia/Information and Telecommunications. TDK’s new ACT1210D series enables five times faster data transmission than before for CAN and CAN-FD at 5 Mbps. Currently, CAN is the most common standard, with a maximum data transmission speed of 1 Mbps.
The components of the ACT1210D series meet the requirements of the industry associations CiA and IEC, have a particularly compact, low design of 3.2 x 2.5 x 2.5 mm³ (L x W x H) and offer good interference suppression characteristics. The signal transmission (Ssd21) could be improved due to its special design: In order to achieve high reliability, not only are highly automated and very precise winding machines used in production, but the winding wires are also welded to the connection pins with lasers.
In accordance with the high requirements in vehicle electronics, the components are designed for operation in the temperature range from -40°C to 150°C.
Series production of the new common-mode chokes will begin in April 2021.
