OLED connection unit honoured for slim design
The tandem of 3E Mechatronic and Osram developed an extremely flat casing in which the electronic components could be integrated directly by means of a laser structuring process. Contacting to the outside world was enables by an SMD connector while the OLEDs are contacted through SMD-enabled spring-load contacts. The plug-and-play unit provides homogenous, glare-free area light and is ideally suited to be integrated into lighting systems. According to 3-D MID, the design takes into account today’s trend towards extremely slim products and opens up new design options.

The award was handed over to 23 Mechatronic project manager Steffen Beyer and Osram Opto Semiconductors project manager Jörg Farrnbacher, by the 3D-MID chairman Prof. Jörg Franke and the honorary chairman of this association, Klaus Feldmann.
