SiPearl is looking to dramatically expand its chip design capabilities over the next four years. The 30-strong company, based in France, aims to recruit 1000 staff by 2025. This will see 10 engineers a month joining the company in France and Germany, says Philippe Notton, SiPearl’s CEO and founder.
“Currently present in France and Germany, we aim to create one thousand jobs across several countries by 2025,” said Notton.
This is to support the development of its Rhea multicore ARM chip for a European exascale supercomputer. This will use the current Neoverse V1 core and interconnect in a 6nm process.
The company is recruiting at its Maisons-Laffitte, Sophia-Antipolis and Duisburg sites. Notton says SiPearl is committed to recruiting staff with diverse profiles, experiences, cultures and nationalities, notably looking to increase the number of women working in its professions, while focusing on excellence and passion. SiPearl is also offering internships.
The initial focus is on digital semiconductor development with design, verification, integration and simulation as well as high performance computing software including OpenMP, MPI, Red Hat, and Suse, embedded security and encryption, and embedded Linux.
“For the senior and junior engineers who are passionate about innovation and want to work on technologies that are not available anywhere else in Europe, it is time to join us,” said Notton.
The Rhea design is progressing well and on track says Notton and moving into an accelerated simulation phase on the Veloce hardware emulation platform from Siemens. SiPearl is running the pre-silicon functional verification of Rhea in a virtual environment for validation before moving into production in 2022.
SiPearl will then open up possibilities for its future clients to access the platform to carry out multi-scale performance tests with Rhea for their applications in diverse fields, from fluid dynamics to climatology for modelling global warming, medical research for Covid-19, geo-sciences and artificial intelligence.
“Thanks to our collaboration with Siemens, as we prepare for Rhea’s arrival on the market, we are able to benefit from a powerful and flexible emulation infrastructure, combined with the team’s expertise, which enables us to accelerate its simulation with uncompromised visibility and debug. This technological choice also sets out our strong commitment to our future clients with a view to supporting their own performance levels,” said Notton.
